REWE digital Spain belongs to REWE Group, one of the leading trade and tourism groups in Germany and Europe with around 390,000 employees. In REWE digital overall there are over 2,200 IT specialists who set standards for IT implementation in the retail industry and development of new technologies for the sector. 

REWE digital Spain is located in the Technological Park of Andalusia (PTA) in Malaga. As a team of 30 colleagues, we drive innovation for REWE digital in Germany. Your newly founded team in Spain will administer data catalog and API management platforms to create transparency about data and APIs within REWE digital. In this respect your team is the basis for a modern IT infrastructure with decentral data ownership.  

We are looking for an IT Engineer to support our transformation into a data-driven company by creating, implementing, and maintaining innovative technical solutions that enhance data and API transparency. Someone who administers the two platforms (Collibra and Gravitee) to provide the basis for a decentral data ownership. Experience with Collibra and Gravitee in particular is not mandatory. 

What you will do:

  • Platform as a Service (PaaS): Transform the existing platforms into PaaS solutions, creating self-service capabilities for internal users and clients, and streamlining access for different business needs.
  • Automation and Deployment: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, integrated with Kubernetes for automated application delivery and infrastructure management.
  • Cloud Integration: Harness the capacity of GCP to manage scalable and secure platform operations, optimizing for cost and performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, develop solutions, and provide technical guidance.
  • Reliability: Implement robust monitoring and logging solutions, ensuring proactive platform management and quick incident resolution.



Key Skills

  • Kubernetes & Helm: Mastery in deploying and managing applications with Helm charts on Kubernetes clusters.
  • GitLab CI/CD: Deep knowledge of CI/CD practices with GitLab for streamlining deployment processes.
  • Docker: Proficiency in using Docker for containerization and orchestration of microservices.
  • Logging & Monitoring: Expertise in setting up monitoring, logging systems, and alerts to ensure platform health (e.g., using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Automation: Experience with automating infrastructure and application workflows for efficiency and consistency.

What you will bring:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • Experience with Cloud Infrastructure Engineering (e.g. GCP, Azure) 
  • Several years of experience in Infrastructure as Code, preferably in Terraform 
  • Some experience in programming languages like e.g. Python, Java … 
  • Strong understanding for the importance of data and meta data 
  • Knowledge of general concepts of databases and APIs  
  • Complete fluency in written and spoken English  
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and eager to learn and explore new languages 
  • You live in Spain, and you have a valid work permit/VISA (without sponsorship) 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with data catalog and/or API management tools 
  • Experience with source systems for the data catalog such as Snowflake, Google Big Query, Microstrategy, Tableau, … 
  • Experience with Kubernetes 
  • Experience in SQL
  • German language skills
